Women’s Aid Federation Northern Ireland’s vision for the 21st century is the elimination of domestic violence.
Women’s Aid is the lead voluntary organisation in Northern Ireland addressing domestic violence and providing services for women and children.
We recognise domestic violence as one form of violence against women.
Women’s Aid seeks to challenge attitudes and beliefs that perpetuate domestic violence and, through our work, promote healthy and non-abusive relationships.
Fermanagh Women’s Aid was set up 23 years ago by a number of committed visionary women who created a Support Service to meet a social need. These concerned women realised that there were no services or facilities for women who were suffering Domestic Violence and voluntarily did something about it.
A decade ago Fermanagh Women’s Aid was in debt and had 3 staff. Today it stands with 18 staff, a strong financial footing (whilst not profit making). This has been a significant achievement and an amazing success story.
Our EthosWe recognise self-help as a skilled process, which leads to empowerment and personal development. Our staff will support you to take control of your life and make your own choices and decisions.
Children's ServicesWe exist to provide support and assistance to children who are or have been victims of Domestic Abuse. We work on a one-to-one basis with the children while their mother engages in work with our Floating Support Workers.
Referral to RefugeWe accept referrals from Social Services, PSNI, Housing Executive, 24hour Domestic Abuse Helpline, Floating Support and self referrals. We also accept referrals from other Statutory / Voluntary agencies.
